Lamp Aquarium
I have a 5 gallon aquarium with rock. i planted lots of bulbs. i have heat lamp on for light,?
I am wondering if the plants will grow faster/better if i have a filter or some movement in the water. and a bubble curtain. also how many hours a day should i have light on them?
You generally would want anywhere from 1.5 to 2 watts of light per gallon of water. If you want your plants to really grow well get some nutrients like Excell. CO2 injection is also a good idea – you can make your own with a two liter bottle, water, sugar, yeast, an air tube, and an air stone. There are plenty of places online that can walk you through the process.
Bubble curtains will only agitate the surface of the water, thus letting more oxygen into the water – your plants need a calm surface to really grow well. For light, 8 hours is good. Put your light on a timer if you want best results (for your plants AND your fish).
